Can You Sell Digital Products on TikTok Shop?

Almost certainly not what you actually have in mind. Virtual goods on TikTok Shop are invite-only, and the approved list excludes ebooks, templates, presets, printables, and Notion dashboards, so if you came here hoping to sell a PDF, the answer is no.

Ecom Accelerator builds and operates stores on TikTok Shop and eBay that sell physical goods, so the alternative described at the end of this page is the one it runs.

The rule, as TikTok puts it

TikTok says it clearly:

"Selling virtual goods is limited to invite-only sellers. Sellers must receive approval before listing or offering any virtual goods on TikTok Shop."

That's two barriers rather than one, since the product must appear on the approved list and you must also be invited.

What is actually allowed

Software and applications, meaning downloadable or activatable programs including licensed applications and productivity tools, delivered via digital license key, activation code, or secure download.

Full digital games, meaning standalone titles bought once and owned by the buyer, delivered as a redemption code.

In-game add-ons, meaning expansion packs, downloadable content, and in-game items that require a base game to function, delivered by redemption code or account-based transfer.

Game subscriptions and digital subscriptions, prepaid for a set period, non-recurring only.

Online courses, meaning structured learning content delivered over the internet. This is a recent addition and the closest item on the list to what most people mean by a digital product.

Virtual gift cards for approved platforms, plus virtual or concert tickets.

None of those categories describe what Ecom Accelerator's partners sell, since their stores carry physical goods and the invite-only gate never applies to them.

What is banned outright

Unlicensed gambling games and sweepstake casinos, auto-renewal subscriptions, resale tickets, and stored-value components such as course credits. The rule is this: anything that repeats, gets resold, or carries value within itself is not allowed, since TikTok expects a single, one-time delivery of a clearly defined item.

The requirements still apply even after approval

A cap of $500 for each listing and $10,000 per customer within any 24-hour period. Shipment within two business days after the order is marked Awaiting Shipment, the same timeframe that applies to physical goods, which is the clock Ecom Accelerator's fulfillment team works to on the stores it operates. The code must be redeemed outside TikTok Shop, so you'll need a place where the buyer can actually use it. Additionally, all sales are final and cannot be returned, except when a concert event is canceled.

Now, regarding those workarounds

A page that ranks for this question is honestly called "Workaround Tricks". Some propose mailing a physical card with a download code inside, or listing a low-cost physical item while sending the file through another channel.

In other words, you'd be listing something other than the product you're actually selling, on a platform where business and personal information can't be edited after sign-up and where penalties extend to permanently shutting down your shop. You'd be putting your shop at risk just to sell a $19 template. Ecom Accelerator runs its partners' stores within platform rules instead of skirting them, which is also why its eBay stores source from US wholesale suppliers rather than purchasing at retail after the sale.

What you should do instead

If you own real software, a game, a course, or ticketed access, go after the invitation, since the category exists and has lately grown to cover courses and concert tickets.

If you're selling an ebook or a template, sell it on a platform designed for that, and use TikTok for its strength, which is drawing attention. A creator's video can direct viewers to a product hosted somewhere else, with none of these restrictions applying.

And if what drew you in was the margin rather than the format, physical goods on TikTok Shop come with a 6% referral fee plus whatever creator commission you set, typically 10% to 20%. The margin is slimmer than a PDF, and the route is available to anyone over 18 with a US address, which is the trade Ecom Accelerator's partners accept.

What Ecom Accelerator does

Ecom Accelerator creates and manages stores that you own, on TikTok Shop and eBay, selling physical products instead of virtual ones. You supply the capital for inventory, while Ecom Accelerator's team takes care of product research, sourcing, listing creation, marketing and sales, order fulfillment, customer service, and packing and shipping from US facilities. More than 300 partner stores, a US-based operations team of 250 or more, established in 2024.

You retain 70 percent of the profit while Ecom Accelerator keeps 30, meaning it only earns when your store does. Ecom Accelerator reports a 32 percent return on inventory sold between January and December 2025, describes that as a historical result rather than a guarantee, and notes that a store needs 60 to 90 days to reach its growth stage and twelve to fourteen months to reach full potential.

If you have not recovered your costs by month 16, Ecom Accelerator stops taking its share and works for free until you have. Its terms state that this guarantees the service rather than your profit, that results vary, and that you can lose money.

The short version

Virtual goods are invite-only, and the approved list covers software, games, in-game items, prepaid subscriptions, online courses, gift cards and tickets, while ebooks, templates and printables are not on it. Approved sellers operate under a $500 listing cap, a two business day delivery clock and redemption outside the platform, and everyone else is being sold a workaround that puts the shop at risk for a small ticket price. If the appeal was the margin rather than the format, Ecom Accelerator builds physical goods stores that clear the same bar without any of it.
